MEET COORDINATION JOBS
Announcer
Announcer is on pool deck and announces upcoming events
and meet changes.
Starter
Volunteer is on pool deck and is responsible for starting swimmers
for each event. Will use the starter system and be having swimmers “take
your mark”. This position requires training
Set Up
Arrives to the meet an hour early to set up team pop ups, tables and area.
Clean up
Helps break down pop ups, tables, head table area, put away equipment on the pool deck. Families are responsible for cleaning up their area, trash and items.
HEAD TABLE JOBS
Colorado/Computer Operator
Runs the Colorado computer program for
the entire meet at the head table. Trained position
Computer Entry
Verify recorded swim times, process results and make
changes in computer if needed. Head table position, requires training
Computer Printer /Verifier
Facilitate the printing of all meet reports and
labels for ribbons. Head table position, requires training
Head Table Posting/ Assist
Assist in printing and sorts event results. Post
event results in designated area. Head table position
Meet Manager Assistant
Meet manager organizes head table positions
and fills in as needed on Colorado or other computer/printer jobs as
needed. Head table position, training required.
POOL DECK JOBS
Clerk of the course
On deck in designated roped off area, at a table
several volunteers will be checking in swimmers for their events, organizing
the swimmers by heat and lane assignments. One volunteer will then escort
swimmers by heats to the blocks.
DQ Runner
Collects DQ slips (disqualification) from stroke and turn judges
after events and turns them into head table.
Time Sheet runner
Collects time sheets from all timers after events and
turns them into the head table.
Lane Assistant/ Attendant
Assists swimmers behind the blocks to make
sure they are in the correct heat and lane.
Table Monitor
Volunteer is at a table before the blocks and verifies
swimmers' event and lets them behind the blocks. Helps control
the amount of swimmers behind blocks.
Stroke and Turn Judges
Must have swim knowledge and know all strokes.
This position is on pool deck watching swimmers during races and checking
if swimmers have disqualified.
Timers
Timers are assigned a lane and clock swimmer's times with
push button stopper or stop watches. Best seat at a meet.
Back up Timers
Stand behind lanes running stop watches in case a timer
needs a backup stop watch.
Relief Timer
Check in with timers on regular intervals and fill in if they
need a break.
Time Sheet Recorder- On your assigned lane and records the swimmers
stop watch time on the recording sheet.
Non-Stationary jobs-
Hospitality
Makes regular rounds around the pool deck to supply
water/snacks to timers, pool deck workers, and head table. This job has
flexibility and is good if you have a smaller child that needs to be with you.
Ribbons/Awards
You are at a table on pool deck sorting and putting labels
on place winner ribbons. This job is flexible and if needed a smaller child
can sit with you.
Shepherds
Shepherds volunteer for an age group and are responsible for
escorting the swimmers in your group to the blocks for their events. Also
helps write event/heat/lane information on swimmer’s hands before the
meet. This job allows you to be with your child for the duration of the meet
if you sign up for their age group. You have some down time between
events.
