Essentials to get maximum comfort,
enjoyment & efficiency out of each meet
Prepare: Get as much rest as possible before the meet & be sensible about what you eat & when you eat, both before and during meets!
Be on Time: Make sure you are there in plenty of time to set up your area, get your swimmer prepped & ready to warm up.
Be ready: If your child is in an age where a shepherd is provided (ages 10 & under), please note that the shepherd is only responsible for your child once they have arrived at the designated area. It is the parent’s responsibility to make sure their swimmer gets to this place 10 minutes before the start of his/her race!
Sign in: Upon arrival to every meet you will have to sign your swimmer in and yourself. Remember, you should be prepared to work every meet, whether you are signed up or not.
Swim Equipment:
- Goggles, cap. Bring extra caps and goggles, as they can break!
- Team suit, parka (optional, but nice to have) and plenty of towels.
- Consider getting a bag to put it all in and make sure everything has your swimmer’s name clearly labeled.
Meet Needs:
- Pop up Tent- Any size. If you don’t own one, make a friend and share!
- Chairs- At least for adults.
- A Cooler- Packed with plenty of healthy food and drinks. Meets tend to be somewhat of a food fest – prepare to share with new little friends!
- Sleeping Bag or Blanket- For the swimmers to lounge in or on or even under in between events, especially during those cold meets.
- Entertainment- Games, Lego’s, Cards, Craft activities, etc. There can be a lot of down-time between events.
- Cash- for the snack bar. In case your cooler is not enough!
- Paper/Pen-To keep track of your swimmer’s times.
- Sharpie to write event info on swimmer or themselves.
- Sunscreen- For the entire family!! DO NOT leave home without it!
