    River Rafting - this Monday

    Hi Otters,

We are so excited for our rafting trip this Monday, June 17 (there is NO PRACTICE THIS MONDAY). Please see the calendar entry on our website for address, directions, etc. You can also save time by printing a waiver (linked below in #7) and bringing it with the info all filled out.

We did hear from Sunshine Rafting that flows will be higher than expected this week, and they recommend keeping this to ages 7 and up. Please call me if you have concerns.

Please note, ALCOHOL IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

Each raft should have 2 or more strong paddlers (adults).

See below for some information from Sunshine Rafting:

    1) Please check the flows before you head out on your trip. Rules surrounding rafting can change based on the flow. Flow conditions can be found here.

    2) Be aware of restrictions around alcohol. Alcohol is not allowed at flows of 1000+ CFS, and is not allowed on weekends in July (including July 4-7). When alcohol is allowed, it is limited to one 60-quart ice chest per raft, and all adult beverages must fit inside that ice chest. You are allowed a MAX of TWO 12-packs of adult beverages (yes, 24 cans total) per raft. This rule will be enforced.

    3) Make sure you know how to get to the river check-in location! A brief overview of how check- in works can be seen here.

Using Google maps (or any other non-Apple map service)? Go to address 18210 Sonora Road, Knights Ferry, CA.

Using Apple Maps? Check-in is across the river from 18000 Covered Bridge Road, Knights Ferry, CA. As you get close, keep your eyes open for the "Rafters' Parking Lot" and our blue tent, where you will check in. Why different addresses? Apple maps will not display the 18210 address correctly!

    Important Stuff

    4) Make sure everyone in the group has the pre-trip list of things to bring, found here. Parking costs $10/car in the Knights Ferry lots (this is a park charge, not ours)- so please bring a credit card to pay the $10 parking fee at the kiosk.

    5) Check the weather for Knights Ferry here. Dress appropriate for the weather, and bring sunscreen!

    6) Understand what our expectations are of you and your group by reading our code of conduct here.

    7) Fill out your liability waivers (found here). Print them out and sign them. If anyone is under 18 have their legal guardian sign them. They are available at the river as well.

    8) A reminder of what to expect:-Total time on the water ranges from 4-5 hours for most rafting groups (2.5-3.5 for kayakers), but really your pace is up to you depending on the breaks you take, when you decide to paddle, etc.-After our crew helps you get your equipment out of the water, we will let you unwind for a few minutes and then shuttle you back to your cars.

We look forward to seeing you in a couple days out at the river!
